Students register for courses based on their class standing. Class standing is automatically assessed by Workday student.
Rules that govern class standing can be found in the UBC Academic Calendar.
Integrated Sciences expects that students meet the following specialization requirements by the time they reach each class standing:
By the time a student reaches 3rd year class standing:
- An approved Integrated Sciences degree proposal contract.
- Students must complete 15 Science credits at the 200-level or above
By the time a student reaches 4th year class standing:
- Completed at least 72 credits
- Of these 50 or more are science credits and include all of the lower-level requirements.
- The communications requirement must be complete.
- At least all but one of the courses required to satisfy the Science Breadth Requirement.
- Majors students will need to have completed 16 credits specified in the program (ISCI + discipline courses). Honours students will need to have completed 20 credits specified in the program.
Graduation Requirements
Students are responsible for fulfilling Faculty of Science degree requirements. Please be advised that the Integrated Sciences Degree Proposal specifies only specialization requirements. Please check that you are meeting Faculty Requirements with Science Advising. Fill out this Qualtrics survey to see if you meet the faculty requirements for graduation.
Graduating with Distinction
As stated in the UBC Calendar graduating students may earn a degree “with distinction” by achieving “an average of at least 85.0% on 30 credits of Science courses numbered 300 or above designated as part of the program by the department and approved by the Dean.”
The 30-credits must be Science credit courses (honorary science courses and exchange courses are not included in the calculation).
If a student does not receive a percentage grade for 30 credits of upper-level Science, they will not be eligible for distinction.
Graduation Photos
Graduation photos will be taken by Artona. If you're graduating in May, please schedule your photo session before mid-March to ensure you're included in the Integrated Sciences class composite. Check out the link to see last year's graduation class photo.
