Choosing Your Second‑Year Courses in Integrated Sciences

Integrated Sciences does not require any specific second‑year courses. Instead, you should use second year to complete Faculty of Science requirements, including at least 15 credits of 200‑level or higher Science courses. These credits should include the lower‑level prerequisites you’ll need for the courses you plan to take in third and fourth year.

Second-year students should also consider ISCI 300. This is a great course to include in your schedule, as it introduces you to your cohort and explores topics of interdisciplinary science.

When planning your schedule, start by exploring the upper‑level courses that interest you and work backward to make sure you take the necessary prerequisites in second year.

In 2025W, the most popular choices among Integrated Sciences students were BIOL 200, CHEM 233, MICB 211, BIOC 202, MICB 212, and BIOL 201. Many students also take BIOL 234, BIOL 260, CHEM 205, CHEM 235, and STAT 200, depending on their interests and the upper‑level courses they are considering. 

Other common second‑year courses that support specific areas of study include CPSC 210, 213, and 221, ENVR 200, FNH 250. Some courses, such as CAPS 301, require 100-level MATH and PHYS.
